Would You Like Some Cake With That Butter?

Today, I woke up at 6:00 a.m. to do some studying for my psych quiz I would have later that morning. I finished reading the textbook earlier than expected and decided to make breakfast. I didn't have too many ingredients on hand, so I threw together a tomato, green onion, and mozzarella cheese omelette with bacon on the side. It turned out better than I expected. I can't remember the last time I woke up to eat breakfast, let alone eat it.

I began walking to the bus stop soon after, and to no surprise, missed it by a fraction of a second. Not wanting to miss my quiz, I power walked all the way towards campus and made it just in time for the beginning of the class. It was an interesting class as we were learning about vision, and the way in which our eyes perceive and our brains process. Nearing the end of the class and with the quiz approaching, I suddenly had a huge headache. I had trouble keeping my head lifted and began to see the room start to shift. When the quiz came along, I quickly scribbled in answers onto the scantron and headed home. Sadly, this headache caused me to miss my gym session with Lapin as well as my Microbiology class. When I got home, I quickly plopped into bed and popped some tylenol while at it. The effects took longer than I expected causing me some discomfort.

GreenGiant had been bugging me about helping him prepare his Banana Cake with Cream Cheese Frosting that he got from Recipezar. We gathered the ingredients and started to prepare it. After a few incorrect measurements and portioning, we managed to scramble together what seemed to be an extremely liquid batter. I then realized that the entire stick of butter I portioned had been used. Now this extra "bit" constituted a third of an increase in the overall butter content of the already saturated batter. We decided to go ahead seeing as we wasted plenty of time preparing it. The overall cake came out well, but I could just smell the extremely fattening goodness that was now in the cake. We let it cool in the freezer; flash cooling, as I call it. When it was time to ice the cake, even more butter was put into making the actual icing. After a brick of cream cheese, a half cup of butter, and three cups of icing sugar, the icing was ready.

We tried the cake, eager to see what the result was. GreenGiant found the cake to be pleasing where as I could taste and feel the actual fat content within our dessert. The overall product was a success in the sense that it was delicious, but perhaps so delicious that it was deadly. A small portion of this cake caused most of us to become lethargic. This was probably due to our bodies extra effort to digest this beast of saturated fat. I can just feel my arteries clog up as I write this blog and hopefully this cake won't lead to anything severe. Yes, it really is that bad. I suppose only time will tell.

And if time won't tell me, I suppose that stick of butter clogging my arteries will.

  1. Hey!!

Thanks for your comment and thank you on behalf of him. As much as I'd love to go to your convocation, there's usually limited seating xD but I will def go if you have enough tickets and our dates don't clash!!

Hm, and that cake of yours is very interesting... so much for portioning stuff haha. Strange how you used to force me to bake gingerbread-men for you and now you are the baking pro. Baking cakes and all that.
