Stealers of Catan

Not to sound arrogant, but being intelligent does have its down sides. Tonight, my housemates, Jolin and Green Giant, and I played a strategy board game known as Settlers of Catan. The game is all about expanding your territory like risk, but instead you have to gather resources in order to build settlements, roads, and ultimately, to obtain 10 victory points. As we played, I gave out suggestions to players of how to better strategies only to be neglected and stolen from. Apparently, I'm considered a threat even when backed into a corner with no possibility of winning. Jolin has been the victor of most of the games played due to people ignorantly trading with him. I just wish that the game would go on with more strategies such as the use of trading ports rather than crazed trading and gang beating one player. I suppose it's too much to ask for, but it makes my playment less enjoyable. I really do like the game and it's fun hanging out with my housemates, but is it too much to ask for a little bit of leniency?

I may be thinking too much on the subject. Actually, I probably am, but I really wanted to rant about it to someone. Sadly, my blog seems to be the only one I can talk to at this hour. So, whoever is reading out there, what do you think I should do? Shall I stop playing the game? Suck it up and just go on with my life? Ugh, I'm not even sure what to do anymore. Perhaps I should just stick to a game I can win because it requires strategies from BOTH parties...

Not to mention there is no "ganking" or trading to be done.
