Apples to Apples

Friday night, hang out with my friends from high school. You may know us as Rhombus.

I was supposed to head downtown to get my hair cut, and hopefully, to do a little shopping. Sadly, due some complications with people's schedules and lack of planning, it didn't happen. I rearranged my Saturday schedule to compensate.

C, my best friend, picked me up around 5 to go out for coffee. We headed to the Starbucks near my house and I ordered a skinny vanilla latte. I thought it was doomed to fail, but I believe my palette has become more sensitive, making it not seem so bad. We chatted a bit before heading over to pick up the other two, Chewbeccs and Mire. We had a hard time deciding where to go for dinner and it took a relatively large number of texts to several different people to finally settle on Crabby Joe's. We got a table at the bar, without a wait, and looked at the menus. We noticed that the menus were sticky and not to mention the table. We all questioned the cleanliness of the establishment, avoiding the "dirty" topics. The waiter that served us was rather buff and Chewbeccs found him rather attractive. He heard a bit of our shinnanigans, probably leading him to believe we were immature. It was time to order and I decided on a Grilled Chicken Club on foccacia. To drink, I ordered an appletini as martinis were the special of the night. I ordered, a little embarassed. The food came and not to sound snobby, but it was alright. The foccocia was good, but the chicken was a little bland. The fries that came with the meal were good, but I wished they were fresher and more crisp. The appletini smelled so good as one of my favourite scents is green apple. It tasted pretty good as well, the alcohol almost completely masked. Overall, I was happy with my choices.

After dinner, Rhombus headed towards the park near my house only to stumble upon a different one! We didn't know this park existed and were eager to explore it. We quickly ran towards a spinning top looking jungle gym structure and climbed inside. It turns out that the whole structure spins and we ended up spinning our friends who were sitting inside. The rest of the park was normal, having a steering wheel, swings, slides, and what not. We questioned why every park had a steering wheel as it really served no purpose. What were the kids steering? We mused this idea and finally agreed it was the entire park. Apparently, this park had a splash zone, a completely new concept we've never seen. We wanted to turn it on, but the button was capped off to stop kids like us from causing a ruckus.

As we stood there, a man got out from a van and slowly walked towards us. A little frightened, we moved further away, but he just slowly crept over. We waited to see what he wanted, ready to flee should he charge. He said a quick hello and then asked us where the skate park was. Our hearts racing, we told him it was the park west of where we were. He thanked us and left. Having our hairs on end, we decided to get some ice cream to calm them down. We arrived at Marble Slab soon after and went inside, glad they closed a little later. I ordered their premade Caramel Apple mix which was good. We enjoyed our ice cream on the curb until it started to rain. I suppose it was a sign that many of us needed to get home as we had things to do early the next morning.

I suppose a creeper, some ice cream, and an appletini can cure depression.
That, and good company.
